Abstract

In this paper, we examine the historical development of the groupthink model and discuss recent responses to the body of empirical evidence amassed on the model. We conclude by articulating general lessons implied by the evolution of research on the groupthink model.

Development and validation of a higher-order thinking skills assessment scale for pre-service teachers

Higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) are highly required to be possessed by prospective teachers in the 21st century but there are limited studies on the development of appropriate measurement tools for this HOTS. Therefore, this study was conducted to develop a HOTS quantitative assessment instrument for pre-service teachers by collecting data from a sample of 701 pre-service teachers in China. The EFA (n = 310) confirmed a "4-dimensional, 14-factor" assessment structure which includes four main dimensions:critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and practical innovation skills. Moreover, the correlated and hierarchical models run by CFA (n = 392) were consistent with the measurement theory structural assumptions, and the scale was observed to have ideal values of internal consistency reliability, convergent validity, and discriminant validity. The findings suggest that the PT-HOTS Test Scale is reliable and valid to measure the level of HOTS possessed by preservice teachers.
Why teams matter in customer involvement – The moderating effects of team social cohesion and team autonomy

The rise of customer involvement challenges our understanding of what success factors influence the innovativeness of new product development (NPD). With teams increasingly shaping firms’ collaborative NPD efforts with customers, team-related factors become increasingly important. Drawing from social identity and organizational information processing literature, we investigate the interactions between intra- and inter-team relations, and two customer involvement modes in pursuit of new product innovativeness. Based on a sample of 277 NPD managers, we establish team social cohesion (intra-team relations) and team autonomy (inter-team relations) as success factors in customer involvement. Whereas team social cohesion augments traditional customer involvement approaches but has no effect on more collaborative approaches, team autonomy exhibits a bipolar effect, harming traditional customer involvement approaches, but benefitting more collaborative approaches. Accordingly, NPD managers need to tailor their teams’ setup to the specific mode of customer involvement and to carefully manage the bipolarity of team autonomy.
The sales-marketing interface: A systematic literature review and directions for future research

How sales and marketing come together in the pursuit of satisfying customers and achieving organizational objectives is of key concern to both academics and practitioners. Researchers have investigated many aspects of the sales-marketing interface (SMI). This paper provides a systematic literature review of the SMI domain. Based on a systematic assessment of more than 25 years of SMI research, the authors review the major themes discussed in the literature, identify and resolve inconsistencies and definitional ambiguities, and develop a comprehensive conceptual model that integrates and synthesizes the current body of knowledge about SMIs. In addition, they identify four directions for future research that will have a major impact on our understanding of the functioning and nature of SMIs: (1) the impact of digital technologies on SMIs, (2) the impact of national culture on SMIs, (3) SMIs in SMEs, and (4) the impact of changing roles of sales and marketing.
