The meeting at which the data were collected was hosted by the Patient Safety Programme of WHO, Geneva, Switzerland. Limited resources were offered in some cases to cover travel expenses. Most participants or their affiliated institutions supported their own travel and attendance, with the University of Edinburgh, the Linnaeus Group Corporation, the Gulf Council Cooperation of States, and the PharmAccess Foundation sponsoring travel of various other participants. The University of Edinburgh was commissioned by WHO to support managing the meeting and providing the evidence base for the deliberations.
